Purpose: This Webquest is designed to be an introduction to various landforms and their formation. It is intended to expose students to varying landforms, their appearance,  identifying characteristics, and formation.  It also encourages students to use research to solve a problem, and reasoning to solve a riddle.  Students use skill such as identifying key points of nonfiction to complete this project.

Standards: 
SS.05.GE.04 Identify physical and human characteristics of regions in the United States and the processes that have shaped them.
SS.05.GE.04.01 Identify and locate major landforms, bodies of water, vegetation, and climate found in regions of the United States.
SC.05.ES.02 Identify causes of Earth surface changes.
SC.05.ES.03.01 Identify effects of wind and water on Earth materials using appropriate models.

SC.05.ES.03.02 Identify effects of rapid changes on Earth’s surface features including earthquakes and volcanoes.

Learning Objectives for the lesson: 
  • Identify key landforms
  • Understand how wind and weather affects the earth's surface
  • Create a geography picture dictionary to refer back to as a resource
  • Solve a riddle based on landforms and write a paragraph describing this

  • Students need to have a basic understanding of web navigation
  • Students need to be able to identify key points in a nonfiction text
